USADANCE Eugene/Springfield Chap. #1010
Pleased to report our March 8th dance and lessons were well attended and a big "THANK U" to "Mr. Yes, Wayne" from Portland who taught an exciting intermediate Rumba at 5pm.
"Mr. Yes, Wayne" was in total command, demonstrating some clever and fun patterns (Duck Feet) (imagine people here in Eugne needing instruction in "Duck Feet"!!) WELL! we are the DUCKS.....In no time he has us all doing spiral turns, pivot turns, Cuban Motion, underarm turns, and he expected all that and more in those outrageous "Duck Feet". From what I observed, some of the dancers were trying ALL those moves, and at the same time!! Good Job!!! Indeed, a fun dance, taught by a well trained teacher..Thanks, Wayne.
At 6pm "Mr. Yes, Wayne" shifted everyting, so smothly, into reverse, as though he was in his BIG BLUE TRUCK, and brought out a great lesson for the beginning Rumba student, and others who wished to "polish and refine" their already learned steps. He demonstrated basic box, wt. change, rock step, forward double rock, balance beam turn and many other fine points to get even the basic beginner excited and eager to learn and enjoy this popular Rhythm dance. Skillful teaching, thanks, Wayne.
Social dancing "kicked off" at 7pm and going till 9:30pm
Robert Phaigh, our capable Blue Jay, (OOPS) forgive me Robert, I meant to say DJ, was present from 5pm till closing, spinning everyone's favorite. Thanks, Robert for your dedication and willingness to provide very great music selections for our dancing pleasure.
Our next dance, April 12th, (second Sunday each month) will feature Melena Bronson teaching ECS, intermediate at 5pm and beginning ECS at 6pm.
Dances are held at Veterans Memorial Bldg 1626 Willamette St....Eugene
Looking ahead, May 10th, will feature Laura Taylor (charming wife of Robert Phaigh) teaching beginning Hustle. NO intermediate lesson.
