As 2009 comes to the end, we want to thank all of you for your support to our chapter during the year. We hope our dance events have left you with good memories.
In the past year, we, your chapter board members, have passionately worked together so that USA DANCE provides an enjoyable local venue for dancers like you to attend. However, as an organization run entirely by volunteers, our chapter needs your help in order to continue to exist. Some of our board members have served the board again and again since the birth of our chapter because of their love to ballroom dance and to the community. To become a board member, you must become a USA DANCE member and maintain the membership in order to serve as a board member. As a way to thank you for your volunteer work, our chapter provides free admission to the monthly dances (including tea dances) to board members who volunteer regularly (e.g., attend board meetings regularly and contribute reasonable hours as the position requires).
All positions are open to election and can be jointly held by two volunteers. To help you decide which position interests you, we include a "job" description below. In addition to the specific tasks described below, all board members also share the tasks of set-up/take-down, flyer distribution, email newsletter, etc.
If we do not receive enough commitment, our chapter may have to have fewer dance events or may cease to exist at any time in the following year. Please email us by December 20 to indicate your interest in any position. When you come on board, our current officers will be happy to assist you in early 2010 to ensure a smooth transition.

..What We Do -
President (currently: Meng Ouyang)
- Oversee all matters of the chapter
- Organize and host monthly board meeting
- Communication with the central office of USA DANCE
- Annual report to the central office or regional office
- (optional) attend annual regional meetings - travel required
Vice President (currently: Linda Smith)
- Similar tasks as President's
Secretary (currently: Dee Sullens)
- Take meeting minutes; organize and distribute the minutes
- Help out at the dances
Treasurer (currently: Valerie Hamby)
- Maintain the chapter's financial record
- Collect payment at the door, make deposits and make payments for expenses
- Annual financial report
Class Coordinator (currently: Faye Henderson)
- Contact dance teachers in advance to schedule classes and confirm before classes
- Currently Faye also submits monthly article to our chapter website and/or InStep magazine, but this is optional.
Web Master (currently: Larry McHenry)
- Maintain and update the chapter's website
- Help out at the dances
