How can I express it again!.....Our USA Dance chapter here in Eugene/Springfield remains very much "Alive & Well", thanks to a community that loves Ballroom Dance, AND, appreciation goes out to all the willing, talented, agreeable and enthusicatic dance teachers, who teach us a new dance each month, keeping our interest "stirred up" and aspiring to a higher level.
This past dance, July 12th, was "a hit", with Robert Phaigh teaching NC 2 Step.
With 45-50 dancers present, Robert taught, (1) basic steps, demonstrating very well the back rock step with proper count and dance position. (2) open break with laldies under arm turn and if that was not enough, he finished (3)running steps with alternating promenade! Very impressive with graceful technique in this much loved dance. Robert, thanks for your clear and sharp teaching skills and expert demos. You can count on being called on again!
Looking ahead: August 9th, Michaela Chevalier will teach Cha Cha at 6pm. For sure, you will want to make positive plans to attend this one and be well hydrated, because the Ballroom is bound to get "in a heat" with Michaela teaching and demonstrating those wonderful Rhythm/Latin moves in Cha Cha. I"m finding it difficult to wait for this one. Just in case you need more hydration, Larry always has plenty of cold or room temp bottled water on hand. (small fee)????
This last dance was very well DJ'd with Sandra Gladney,as always, having an excellent selection of music, and in keeping with our theme, NC 2 Step, she spun out several great pieces, giving everyone an opportunity to practice the new learned steps and patterns at the 6pm lesson. Once again, Sandra, your taste in good ballroom music comes thru with the "Waltz Mixer"....JUST EXCELLENT. Thanks from everyone!
Our dances are held each month, second Sunday, at The Veterans Memorial Bldg 1626 Willamette St.
Beginning lessson at 6pm.
Social dancing commences at 7:00pm and goes to 9:30pm.
Clean environment, no smoking, no alcohol.
Prices: $5/member, $8 non-member. All inclusive.
