USA Dance Eugene/Springfield #1010 Eugene, OR Faye Henderson 2/8/09
At 5pm Laura Sue Hiszczynskyj started the evening with 30 plus experienced dancers, all eager to improve their skills and sharpen up their technique with intermediate/advanced "Foxtrot". She was able to bring out the very best in all those in attendance, showing skillful teaching and clearly demonstrating the progressive twinkle, open left turn with under-arm turn and ending with a beautiful develope'. Impressive to say the least!
With Laura Sue executing proficient teaching skills, students "caught on" quickly and was truly evident they were having a joyful time with "Foxtrot", and they were complimented for their attention and a job well done. At 6pm Laura Sue "kicked it back a notch" with beginning Foxtrot. Again she clearly demonstrated the basic box, underarm turn with the SSQQ count, left turn box with underarm turn with "up side down flip" (oops) I mean inside under arm turn and more. What a great lesson in basic Foxtrot. Fun, Fun Fun!
It's now 7pm and Social Dancing is well on it's way and THANKS to Wu for DJing and giving everyone an opportunity, several times, to practice those new, or refine familiar, steps in Foxtrot. Wu also provided good music for everyone's enjoyment and taste. The "Mixer", Foxtrot of course, in keeping with our "theme" seemed to spread merriment all over the place and allowing everyone, who wished, an opportunity to dance around the floor more than 1-2 or 3 times with a different partner.
Our next dance will be March 8th featuring Wayne Herendeen from Ballroom Parkrose, Portland. Wayne will be teaching intermediate Rumba at 5pm and beginning Rumba at 6pm. You will not want to miss this one!!
Our USA dances are held each month (second Sunday) at the Veteran's Memorial Bldg, located 1626 Willamette St. Intermediate lesson at 5pm and Beginning lesson at 6pm. Cost: $5 members, $8 non-members. All inclusive.
We welcome all ages, singles and couples, and proud to state we are a clean environment, no smoking, no alcohol.
We encourage everyone (at no extra charge) to relax, be happy and have fun at our dances.
