Chapter #1010
Faye Henderson
Our USA DANCE chapter remains dedicated in providing an opportunity for Ballroom Dancers to gather each month for 2 hours of lesson instruction, followed by 2 1/2 hours of Social Dancing. (Ballroom of course).
A well qualified, experienced dance instructor is always available with expert teaching, and demonstrating the basics for the beginner and intermediate for the more experienced dancer.
Our Feb. dance, held on Valentine"s Day was no exception......EXCEPT, we had a RECORD BREAKING attendance! A bit over 100 people attended.
Many smiling faces, happy dancers and happy feet all over the place. What a party!!
Wayne Herendeen, instructor from Ballroom Parkrose, Portland, got the evening in motion, (Cuban of course) with a splendid intermediate Rumba lesson at 5pm. Then at 6pm, the class shifted a little for the beginning students.
Wayne instructed/demonstrated many basic and intermediate patterns/steps, including basic box, crossover break, underarm turn, back stop, switch back, balance beam turn, spins, spotting, swivels, plus he was able to keep this large group organized, rotating partners, in a pleasing manner and I must add, Wayne, you certainly know how to captivate a large dance class, and hold their attention. YES, WAYNE, I do believe "they got it", also I would like to add that you have "KA-RIZ-MA", but I don't know how to spell it, and my dictionaries or thesaurus don't have a clue either, because I can't find that word any place! Guess I "made it up".
Wayne, we will keep you on our register, as one of our favorite teachers, and look forward to your return. Just splendid!
Thanks, Larry, for the Cheese/Cracker snacks and plenty of water available.....you are appreciated.
Our DJ, Robert Phaigh, always spins everyone's favorite ballroom music with great choices for the Mixer, giving everyone a chance to dance around the floor with a different partner 3 to 4 times. We thank you 1,000 times and more.
I almost forgot to mention the beautiful Valentine decorations.....so tastefully done, very appropriate, thanks to everyone who assisted Wes with this task. The "take down" went fast and smooth.....if you assisted, give yourself a large helping of "thank yous".... This was a beautiful and important part of our Valentine's Day party/dance.
