USA DANCE
EUGENE SPRINGFIELD
CHAPTER #1010
APRIL CHATTER
Robert Alexander got things "swinging" at 5pm with his fast and energetic intermediate lesson in "Triple Step Swing".....Great job, Robert, even tho some of us felt like a "pretzel" in motion. Encouraging to know we can all attempt something on this journey of Ballroom Dance.
At 6pm Robert shifted things backwards just a little for the inexperienced/beginning student.....again a great lesson, with lots of fun added at no extra charge.
BIG THANKS to Robert Phaigh for DJing......Always great choices for the avid Ballroom dancer, and excellent choices for the theme, "Swing" throughout the evening. The "waltz mixer" always a hit, with appropriate music and the right tempo, gets everyone on the floor, smiling and dancing!! Large group of dancers, again. Keep up the good attendance!
COMING ATTRACTIONS
June: Bonnie Prater from Newport will be teaching American Tango, beginning level at 6pm......PLEASE NOTE: NO 5pm lesson.
Bonnie has taught for our chapter in the past, but we have not had the privilege of booking her for quite sometime. Bonnie is an accomplished teacher and keeps very busy in the coastal area with dance, and other performing arts activities. You will, I'm sure, gain a lot from her teaching in June, come out and support one our willing teacher from out of town, and besides, she is a very pleasant person to get to know.
July: Laura Sue H. Laura will be teaching American Waltz, beginning level at 6pm.......AGAIN PLEASE NOTE: NO 5pm lesson.
Laura is a well trained, educated, pleasant teacher, and realy "knows her stuff" when it comes to Ballroom Dance teaching. You can learn lots from Laura, and besides that, enjoy the process at the same time. Laura has taught for our chapter in the past, but it has been several months, she is very busy, and I feel honored she was able to teach for us in July........Come out and support this talented teacher. One of our favorite dances.......WALTZ
August: Michaela Chevalier from Taulatin, formerly of Eugene, will be here to teach American Rhythm, maybe Salsa or Rumba, not confirmed yet.
Michaela is a "charter member" of this chapter, working very hard along with several other dedicated dancers to establish this chapter few years ago. Be sure and try to attend, giving this young, lovely, pleasant and fun teacher a BIG RETURN WELCOME to our chapter.
PLEASE NOTE: Performance/showcase in July with Linda Smith and Sandra Gladney.....They will demo two of their dances they will be performing at a competition this summer in Germany, Come out and cheer this couple on and wish them well at their competiton!
Valerie Hamby and Wayne will be demo/dancing their Rumba/Mambo routine, date not determined......Will let you know as soon as they are ready, and it will, I'm sure, be well worth the wait.
Best wishes and many blue ribbons to all our dancers from this area who are attending the Columbia Star Ball in Portland this week end, May 8th and 9th. We will look forward to hearing all about your exciting adventures, and counting your awards/blue ribbons.
Remember we dance each second Sunday at Veterans Mem. Building, on Willamette. Beginning lesson at 6pm,Social Dancing kicks in at 7pm and goes till 9:30pm....No 5pm lesson till this fall, October, more about that as the summer moves along.
