December USA Dance Article

Laura Taylor, teaching Hustle, brought a tremendous level of excitement to our Dec. 13th USA Dance. She presented a full range of steps/patterns in this fun and somewhat aerobic dance. Laura's adoring husband, Robert Phaigh was present to give Laura assistance with all her sharp and clear demonstrations. Both classes, Intermediate at 5pm and beginning at 6pm, were full to overflowing,(45 to 50) and well balanced with leads and follows, and with Laura's experienced teaching skills, she had this large group in her command from the "get go".....rotating partners frequently and adequately.

I Faye, participated in both lessons, (my feet were so mad at me, two (2) hrs of Hustle, in 2.5 inch heels), failed to take notes on Laura's technique and patterns, but believe me.......T'was a great lesson! And Laura, you are welcomed to return for a "repeat performance" in the future. Everyone loves you!

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Jan. 10th, 5pm, Julie Reid will be teaching Waltz. Julie is one of our most accomplished teachers here in Eugene, and we feel very lucky to have someone to teach with such remarkable qualifications. You will not regret attending this class and staying around for the beginning lesson. PLEASE NOTE: The Intermediate lesson is designed and structured for the experienced dancer. We recommend you be familiar with basics and a bit beyond before participating in the Intermediate level class.
6pm....Julie will teach Waltz for the Beginning level students, however, we welcome all levels to join this class to assist and encourage the beginners...besides it's always good to renew or refine basic knowledge and steps. All professionals stress, "you can't get enough of basics".

Feb 14th....Valentine's Day. Wayne Herendeen (Portland) will be teaching Rumba, Intermediate level at 5pm. The above recommendations apply to this class as well.
6pm, Wayne will teach Rumba for the beginning level student, but welcoming dancers of all levels.

Wayne has been a visiting teacher for our chapter several times in the past, and we look forward to supporting him once again, learning from his experienced teaching skills and enjoying the fun he brings to the classes. NOTE: Wayne and one of his accomplished students here in Eugene (Valerie Hamby), she's the lovely lady at the reg table, who smiles and "takes your money" each month, will entertain us with a Rumba demonstration and one other dance of their choice, maybe a "Tango". This promises to be a great evening of dance and entertainment. Don't miss this one!!

Mar. 14th.....Teacher and dance not yet confirmed, however there will be "weather".
April 11th......Teacher and dance not yet confirmed, however there will be "showers".

A nice and kind "thank you" to Linda for DJing this Dec. dance, in the absence of Sandra Gladney, who was ill. Good job, Linda and plenty of Hustle for everyone to practice what they learned from Laura's lesson.

The "Waltz Mixer" always a hit, providing everyone an opportunity to dance around the floor 3 ot 4 times with a different partner. Great selection of Waltz music.
You can expect a fun time like this each month, second Sunday, with lessons beginning at 5pm. Social dancing beginning 7pm and going till 9:30pm.

Veterans Memorial Building, located 1626 Willamette Street, Eugene.
$5 members, $8 non members.
All ages, levels, couples and singles are welcome to join us in our friendly and clean environment.
